What are the perks of being a student on Jeju Island? Other than airline ticket discounts and free admission to museums or parks, you might be missing out on something important: there are simply so many discounts available on items ranging from leisure and athletic pursuits to education.

All you have to do is just ask. For example, you can ride a horse at a discount of more than 70%. You can apply at any time, and with the support of the Jeju Island Administration, you only need to bring a simple form and a certificate confirming that you are a Jeju citizen and you can go to one of the five equestrian venues designated by the Jeju Island Administration. Just submit an application to Otguima Theme Town (Namwon), Sandos Cavalio Horse Park (Andeok), Arion Equestrian Club (Andeok), Chowon Equestrian Club (Sangye), and OK Equestrian Stadium (Pyoseon). It costs 9,6000 won for 10 sessions, and each lesson is 1 hour consisting of programs from riding safety education to acquiring beginner-level riding skills. After completing 10 trainings, you can even get a certain riding certificate. It costs 9,6000 won for 10 one-hour sessions which includes programs ranging from riding safety education to programs for acquiring beginner-level riding skills.

Those over the age of 18 who have been registered as residents of Jeju for more than a year can also receive a subsidy of up to 500,000 won when purchasing an electric bicycle. It is an attempt to promote the revitalization of the local economy by allowing this age group to purchase electric bicycles through visits to their local bicycle sales centers in the province. Applications for these subsidies can be made at the beginning of each year by visiting the Transportation Policy Division, fax, and or email. The subsidy project for the purchase of electric bicycles was first launched in 2023, and the amount of financial support has increased from 300,000 won per person last year to a maximum of 500,000 won in 2024. So go and take advantage of these opportunities that you can enjoy only as a student on Jeju Island. All you have to do is ask.
