Steak should be the staple of school lunches, if not because of nutritional value, at least as something to make students anxious to have lunch. At their cores, the juicy meat is full of protein, iron, and necessary vitamins such as B12 to help in growth–with this, we can maneuver through complicated math problems and crush those dodgeball games with ease.

And let's be real, serving steak might also be the surest way to teach kids about portion control because nobody needs a steak the size of their lunch tray unless they are trying to make a point about self-restraint. It is a fantastic opportunity to teach students the importance of sustainable sourcing and eating well. Not to mention it would cut down on the waste of food because, really, who's going to waste a good piece of steak? It might even be the only lunch that gets a "yum" instead of the usual "ugh."

Last but certainly not least, let's serve steak… because all students deserve a little taste of the good life.
